Ingredients
Chicken: 500 gms Onion: Chopped 1 Tomatoes: 2 Bay leaves: 2 to 3 Ginger garlic paste: 1 tsp Cilantro: 5 to 6 leaves Red chilly powder: As per your spice level Garam masala : 1 tsp Turmeric: 1 tsp Yogurt: 1 table spoon Lime : 1 tsp Cinnamon: one small stick For Chicken Masala: Dry coconut powder or grated : half cup Onion: Half or one small Cloves: 2 Black Pepper: 2 Seaseme seeds: (optional) 1 tsp Coriander seeds: ½ tsp Cumin : ½ tsp
Cooking Instructions
Marinate Chicken
Wash and clean chicken pieces.
Mix ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, chilli powder, garam masala,salt, yogurt and lime juice and marinate chicken. For better taste marinate for atleast 3 to 4 hours. However if you dont have that much of time, one hour is also sufficient.
Prepare chicken masala Heat 1 tsp Oil. Add sliced onions. Fry till brown. Now add dry coconut, sesame seeds, coriander seeds, cumin, cloves, black pepper and mix till you get a golden colour. In a blender, blend this mixture. This is our chicken masala.
Chicken Curry Heat Oil in a pan or kadhai. Add bay leaves and cinnamon. Fry till you smell nice aroma.
Add chopped onion. Fry till onion is pink. Now add slight ginger-garlic paste (optional) and fry till the raw smell goes off.
Add marinated chicken. Fry for a minute on medium heat and add chopped tomatoes. Cover and cook on low heat for 5 minutes.
Add the chicken masala we prepared and fry for 2 minutes on medium flame. Add some red chilly powder and garam masala as per your spice level and saute it for 2 minutes. Add water as per desired consistency. Check salt and add to taste.
Cover and cook on low flame till the chicken and cooked and tender. Garnish with fresh chopped cilantro.
Enjoy with roti, rice or bhakri!
