| 7/21/1999 | Amir Timur of Timur Lang invaded India with 92 squadrons of horses and 90,000 cavalry and reached the banks of Sindhu river near Atak city (now in Pakistan). He then attacked Delhi because its Muslim Sultanate was too tolerant of Hindu idolatry. A Mongolian follower of Sufism, he was one of the most ruthless of all conquerors. Timur crossed the Indus River at Attock (now in Pakistan) on 24 September 1398. |

| 1/30/1948 | Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, the spiritual leader of Indian independence, was shot and killed by a Hindu extremist. The 78-year-old Gandhi was shot at point-blank range as he was walking through a garden to a pergola, where he was to deliver his daily prayer meeting. |

| 12/8/1970 | Army Ordnance Corps was awarded the 'Colours' by the Vice President of India, Shri G S Pathak, at AOC Centre, Secunderabad. The Ordnance colour is a scarlet silken flag with the Ordnance crest in the center and surrounding it is a wreath of Ashoka Leaves and Lotus flowers. |
