4/25/1969Invalappil Mani Vijayan (or better known as IM Vijayan), Indian Soccer(Football) player, was born in Trissur, Kerala. He was recognised as Indian Player of the Year in 1993, 1997, 1999. He scored the fastest ever International goal against Bhutan at the SAF Games '99, scoring after just 12 seconds.
12/28/1926Shirish Kumar, freedom figher, was born.
10/16/1905Bengal was partitioned by Lord Curzon on the pretext of it being too big to administer. Instead of dividing it on the basis of non-Bengali areas, the division was on the basis of Hindus and Muslims. Britishers thought that would succeed in increasing Hindu - Muslim tensions. The tremor of partition was felt throughout India and was regarded as an insult and challenge to Indian Nationalism. A movement was launched by the moderates. New method of protests 'Swadeshi and Swaraj' became the slogan of the common man and the whole of India was drawn into the national movement.

4/5/1950Spurred by recent clashes in East and West Bengal between Muslims and Hindus, Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and his Pakistani couterpart Ali Khan today reached agreement on a ""Bill of Rights for Minorities"". This bill included a provision for ""drumhead justice,"" or summary justice to persons convicted of violating minority rights.
