1. Bomb exploded near Birla House during a prayer meeting of Gandhi. 2. Three member UN Commission for investigation/mediation on Kashmir. 3. K.M. Cariappa succeeded Lieutenant General D. Rissell as the Army Commander, Delhi and East Punjab and was responsible for conducting the operation in Kashmir.

1/20/1948	Allau'd-din Khalji declared himself as King of Delhi after assissinating Jalal'ud-din Khalji. (19 0r 20).
3/23/1942	Second World War was turning against the British and they needed the help of the Indians. So Prime Minister Churhill sent a delegation under Sir Stafford Cripps (Cripps Mission) to hold talks with the Indian leaders on the future of the subcontient in UK, which could not take place because of the non-cooperation movement and they left after a fortnight. They submitted their report in April 1942 which was rejected by the Congress and Muslim League.

11/23/1919	Sitaram Mahadeo Bapat, teacher and author, was born at Miraj in district Sangli.
4/2/1679	Aurangzeb reimposed Jizya Tax to finance the spread of Islam on the Hindus.This Jeziya tax was abolished by Akbar.
3/22/1957	National Calander based on Saka Samvat was adopted. As per this calander, the date of adoption was "Chaitra first, 1879 Saka along with Gregorian.
