In an unprecedented move, UP Speaker Dhani Ram Verma adjourns the two-day special session called to prove Mayavati Government's majority in the House. Later, the House gathers, rejects the sine die adjournment and unanimously elects B.R. Verma (BSP) as new presiding officer to conduct the business of the House.

This flag is with three equal horizontal stripes of Saffron (Sacrifice), White (Truth) and Green (Prosperity) and a Chakra is superimposed on white (Dharma Chakra on the capitol of Ashoka's Pillar at Sarnath) in blue colour having 24 spokes. | 8/11/1984 | A cloud of toxic chemicals escaped from a Union Carbide plant near Charleston, West Virginia, this morning, and at least 135 residents were treated for eye, throat, and lung irritation. Last December, methyl isocyanate gas escaped from a Union Carbide plant in India, killing 2,000 people. No MIC escaped today, plant officials said. Aldicarb oxime, a much less toxic gas, is declared as one constituent of the gas cloud. |
